Mike Trombley

As party thrower and vinyl purveyor, Mike Trombley has long built an arsenal of (un)classics gleaned from dusty bins and dingy basements, creating sets that move asses, loins and ears in true rearguard anti-fashion. Strengthening Detroit’s own underground legacy against its current blog-house blandishments, Mike has established a cadre of support for overlooked and forgotten dance music, fusing Detroit’s own well-hung Disco endowment with classic underground House and Italo rarities.

Returning to Detroit in 2009 after four years in Philly, Mike started the monthly Disco party Macho City at the R&R Saloon. The plan was to create a unique party that harked back to the heady days of legendary clubs like The Music Box and Paradise Garage while always looking toward the future. This formula proved successful and led to capacity crowds at Macho City’s headquarters, the R&R Saloon.

2012 is sure to be a big year for Mike with a number of new projects on the horizon including a monthly residency at the Temple Bar called Menergy with DJ Chuck Hampton (Gay Marvine). As well, the summer outdoor dance party Loose Joints with DJ Bill Spencer returns to the patio of Slows Bar-B-Q on June 23rd. This year, expect further adventures in disco debaucher
